We want to make our customers aware of a recent phone spoofing attempt reported by one of OMPA’s member utilities. In this scam, customers received calls that appeared to come from their local utility phone number and were asked to make an immediate payment to avoid disconnection.
Similar attempts could potentially target customers in our community.
Please use caution when receiving unexpected calls requesting immediate payment or personal information. Remember, the City of Perry will not call customers and request payment over the phone.
If you receive a suspicious call, do not provide personal or payment information. When in doubt, contact City Hall directly using our official phone number to verify the status of your account.
Please share this information with family, friends, and neighbors to help keep our community safe.

Power should now be restored to all affected customers. The source of the issue was at the substation itself, which is unusual and took longer than normal to diagnose. The electric crew has implemented a temporary repair to get everyone back online, and will be working with OMPA to implement a permanent repair in the future. Anyone still without power should contact the after hours number at (580) 336-4100. Remember to leave a message with your name, address, and contact information if no one is available to answer.
Thank you again for your patience as the crew worked to identify and repair challenging issue!
The Electric Crew has been unable to trace the source of the outage, but is continuing to work toward restoration. We will update this post again as soon as we have additional information. Thank you again for your continued patience!
The Electric Crew is aware of the outage and currently assessing the system to find the source of the issue. The outage seems to primarily be affecting residents on the north and east edges of town. If you are without power and also outside of that area, please all the After Hours phone at (580) 336-4100 to let them know your location. This will help the crew narrow down the source of the problem. If no one is available to answer the call, please be sure to leave a message with your name and address. Thank you for your patience as we work to resolve this outage.
The electric crew is conducting maintenance and repairs on sections of the grid south east of town. Customers on Highway 86, Harvest Road, and the Skyline neighborhood may experience a loss of power for up to four hours. The crew will work as quickly as safety allows to limit the outage to as short as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Keep Streets & Alleys Safe: Trim Overgrown Vegetation
Summer is in full bloom, and with school starting soon, now is the perfect time to trim back overgrown trees and vegetation.
Property owners are responsible for maintaining trees, shrubs, and other vegetation that extend beyond the property into streets, alleys, and easements adjacent to their property. Overgrown vegetation can create safety hazards by reducing visibility, damaging school buses, emergency vehicles, utility trucks, sanitation vehicles, delivery trucks, and other large vehicles. In some cases, low-hanging branches can even force larger vehicles into oncoming traffic to avoid obstacles.
To help keep Perry safe and accessible, please maintain a minimum clearance of 14 feet above streets and alleys by trimming back any overhanging vegetation.
If vegetation presents an immediate public safety hazard, City crews may trim or remove it. If you notice a hazardous situation, please contact City Hall at 580-336-4241 to request a work order for that location. Thank you for working together with us to help keep Perry's streets and alleys safe for everyone!

The City of Perry has officially been awarded a $3,439,820 BUILD Grant for our railroad overpass project!
This funding will cover the feasibility analysis, environmental review, engineering, and final design of the overpass—bringing us one major step closer to construction. With this phase complete, we'll be positioned to pursue future funding for the actual construction of the overpass.
This is an incredible achievement for our community. Perry was the only city in Oklahoma to receive a BUILD Grant this funding cycle and one of only three entities statewide selected for funding.
Projects like this don't happen without strong partnerships. We want to extend a sincere thank you to Senator James Lankford's Office for their support and advocacy throughout this process, as well as BNSF Railway for providing the required local match that helped make this award possible.
This investment represents another major step toward improving safety, reducing traffic delays, strengthening emergency response, and preparing Perry for future growth.
Thank you to our City Council, staff, partners, and everyone who has worked to move this project forward. Together, we're continuing to invest in the future of Perry!

Please note: The DAM project is expected to begin near the end of the season. Perry Lake is currently expected to remain fully accessible during the 2026 season. If conditions change, the City will work with blind holders on any necessary adjustments. For more information, contact the Parks Department at 580-572-9465.

If you have additional limbs to dispose of, they may be taken to the City of Perry Convenience Center located at 1601 E. Boundary.
Please note: Whole trees and tree trunks are not accepted. Limbs larger than 12 inches in diameter are not accepted.
Directions to the Convenience Center: https://maps.app.goo.gl/y4k95SeZrX8xLfxG7
If you have a small brush load, you may request curbside pickup by calling City Hall to be added to the weekly brush pickup list.
Brush pickup requirements:
• Branches must be 4 inches in diameter or smaller
• No longer than 4 feet in length
• Bundled and placed neatly at the curb or alley
These size requirements are necessary because the brush pickup is collected by Davis Sanitation using trash trucks. Material that exceeds these limits cannot be safely or efficiently collected with this equipment.
Please be aware that due to the large number of requests, it may take more than one week for crews to reach everyone on the list.

Due to the recent storm and the large amount of fallen tree limbs throughout the community, our Street Department is currently working to collect storm debris.
Residents may place storm-related tree limbs at the curb and call City Hall at 580-336-4241 to have their address added to the pickup list.
All electrical services should be restored at this point. If you are still without power, please contact the after hours number at (580) 336-4100 and let them know. Remember to leave a message if they are unable to answer your call. Thank you again for your patience and understanding. It is greatly appreciated!
For crew safety, we will need to temporarily shut down power to all customers that were affected by this morning's outage while we complete a power transfer. The outage should last approximately 15 minutes and will begin at or around 4:30pm. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as we work to safely complete these needed repairs.
The 1500-1900 block of Fir St are still offline while the Electric Crew conducts repairs in that area. All other areas should have power restored. There may be additional outages outside that area over the next few hours for line worker safety while they conduct those repairs, but they will be kept to as brief as possible. We will update again as necessary.
We are aware of the current outage and crews are already out searching for the cause. We ask for your patience once again as we work to repair the system and get your power restored. We will update this post as necessary with any additional information. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.
**OUTAGE UPDATE - 11:20pm**
We know of several homes that are still without power around town, some scattered, some concentrated. There was some significant damage to the system from trees on the west end of Fir, Grove, and Ivanhoe, and some transformers were destroyed by lightning as well. There are also customers down on East Noble and Memorial Drive. Please know that crews are still out working, though, and will likely continue working through the night to get everyone that we can get restored powered back up. Thank you again for your patience and understanding!
Power should now be restored to the majority of residents, but there are undoubtedly still some without. If you are still without power, please contact the after hours emergency number at (580) 336-4100 so we can expedite getting your power restored. If they are unable to answer, please be sure to leave a message with your name and address. Thank you again for your patience, and thank you to the Electric Crew for their quick action in getting power restored for so many!
The storm has knocked out power for about half of the town at this moment. The electric crew is on standby waiting for the rain and lightning to subside some before they start tackling the issues so families get back to enjoying their Independence Day.
